Tornei-me bailarina devido ao meu desejo de voar. A transcendência da gravidade foi uma coisa que sempre me motivou. As minhas obras não encerram um significado secreto. São exercícios espirituais em forma física.
A dança comunica e expande a linguagem universal da comunicação, dando origem à alegria, beleza e ao avanço do conhecimento humano. A dança tem a ver com a criatividade… e repetidamente… no pensamento, no fazer e na interpretação. Os nossos corpos são a ferramenta para a expressão e não um meio para a representação. Esta noção liberta a nossa criatividade que é a lição essencial e o dom da rate de fazer.
A vida dum artista não termina com a idade, como alguns críticos acreditam. A dança é feita de pessoas e ideias. Na qualidade de espectador pode-se levar o impulso criativo para casa e aplicá-lo na sua vida quotidiana.

I became a dancer because of my desire to fly. The transcendence of gravity was always something that moved me. There is no secret meaning in my dances. They are a spiritual exercise in a physical form.
Dance communicates and expands the universal language of communication, giving birth to joy, beauty and the advancement of human knowledge. Dance is about creativity…again and again…in the thinking, in the making, in the doing, and in the performing. Our bodies are a tool for expression and not a medium for representation. This notion liberates our creativity, which is the essential lesson and gift of art-making.
The life of an artist does not end with age, as some critics believe. Dance is made of people, people and ideas. As an audience, you can take the creative impulse home with you and apply it to your daily life.

Me convertí en bailarina por mi deseo de volar. Trascender la gravedad fue algo que siempre me emocionó. No hay un significado secreto en mis obras. Son un ejercicio espiritual que toma una forma física.
La danza proyecta y amplía el lenguaje universal de la comunicación, dando lugar a la alegría y a la belleza, al avance del conocimiento humano.
La danza es la posibilidad de crear…, una y otra vez…, en el pensamiento, en la acción, en la puesta en escena, en la interpretación.
Nuestros cuerpos son una herramienta para la expresión y no un medio para la representación. Esta sensación libera nuestra creatividad, que es la esencia y el don de la capacidad artística.
La vida de un artista no termina con la edad, como creen algunos críticos. La danza está hecha de personas, por personas e ideas. El espectador puede llevarse a casa el impulso creativo y aplicarlo a su vida diaria”.

It is with great sorrow that we share the news that Trisha Brown, dancer, choreographer and dance theorist (as well as International Dance Day message author 2017), died on March 18th after a lengthy illness. As one of the most acclaimed and influential choreographers and dancers of her time, Trisha’s ground-breaking work forever changed the landscape of art. Her passing signifies a great loss to dance and the performing arts. We are sure that everyone associated with ITI will join us in expressing our grief and sadness at the news of Trisha Brown’s death. She will never be forgotten by lovers of dance and the performing arts.
